Khadi Neem Tulsi face wash.

Khadi Neem Tulsi face wash.

Hey ladies...

Today I am going to write my first product review …  I have combination skin which means, my skin throws tantrums ALWAYS. Summers are my enemies.

I have been using Clean and Clear Face wash (Original) for years now. Somehow the addition of the new range of colored (yellow.. green.. pink I think) face washes made me lose faith. I tried the apple scented one, was very disappointed. Anyhow after trying many face washes from pond’s perfect white face foam (made my skin ghostly white and stretchy.. yikes) to Himalaya neem (hated the consistency) to Khadi’s very own neem face wash (too harsh and soapy, reminded me of applying neem shampoo to my face) I settled on Khadi Neem Tulsi face wash.

Product details

Quantity – 210ml for 120 Rs

Packaging:

Comes in a standard khadi 210 ml bottle. They use the same bottles for everything, from shampoos to scrubs. Can be confusing (for me) when you see neem shampoo and neem face wash on the counter. The bottle has a flip cap for ease of use. Very simple and basic labeling. If this is mostly used at home then the bottle design is not an issue. Can be bulky for travel. I transfer the contents to my mini travel bottles. One has a push nozzle which makes it convenient. I do the same for biotique mountain ebony hair serum. I use the spray nozzle bottle. These bottles are easily available in department stores. Still takes extra time and effort.

Review:

Below I have listed the use of the ingredients used. I always find it helpful to know what each does.

Neem oil - used as a cure for skin infections and inflammations.
Tea tree oil – has antiseptic properties. Helps in clearing skin blemishes.
Wheat germ oil- contains Vitamin E.
Aloe vera – Has moisturizing and soothing properties.
Basil oil – Has anti bacterial properties. Reduces occurrence of pimples.

Looking at the above list one can deduce that it’s quite a cocktail of essential ingredients to make a good face wash. And it is amazing. Especially for the summer months. After a hard and humid day using this face wash is refreshing. It has the sweet smell of basil which stays with you. A very small amount is required to clean your entire face and neck area. Takes at least 3-4 rinses to take the entire soapy feeling from your face. It slightly irritates your eyes if not rinsed thoroughly.

I have been using it for  months now .My face feels soft and summer pimple issues are reducing. My T zone is less oily. A wash before applying makeup has helped. I don’t think it will help in winter months or people with dry skin, as it tends to be slightly drying. It says it can be used as a Body wash too, I tried it once but I found it too soapy for my liking. Even after repeated rinses the slimy, soapy feel is there. It is quite annoying.

Pros

1.       Refreshing for summer months and humid weather
2.       Leaves a sweet smell of basil and gives a clean feel to the skin
3.       Pimples have reduced. Skin less oily.
4.       Very economical
5.       Small contribution to the Indian cottage industry.

Cons

1.       Not suitable for dry skin or skin eruptions
2.       Bottle too bulky for travel
3.       Not sure how they make it so soapy if its natural and herbal.

Final verdict:

I am in love with this product. I will definitely recommend this. I have already ordered the same face wash for my mom and sister. Give it a try. It will save you from making these summer months a trial.
